This is part three of an article that features the confession of a man who overcame his fear of rejection. I hope that it will be helpful to anyone who has ever struggled with this problem:

Whenever I was spending time with my wife it was like a test and I was wondering whether I will pass it. I am sure that many people might feel the same way, even though they might not be ready to admit it. Anyway, once I realized how it is affecting my life, I decided that it has to stop. I thought about it long and hard and I came to a few conclusions. First of all, I knew that we were happy in our marriage, so I thought that it is ridiculous that I worry so much. I thought to myself that if my wife really loves me, then she will accept me as I am. Secondly, I decided to be more honest with my wife whenever I speak to her. Once I made this decision, I made sure to stay relaxed and not to worry too much. I have to admit that I still had some fear, but it was already getting smaller. I kept telling myself that I did not have to worry and that my wife accepts me as I am. Overcoming fear of rejection was definitely a very big milestone in my life and it would not have happened if I did not realize in the first place that I had this problem.

Very often, I did not speak my thoughts very clearly, because I was afraid. Sometimes I did not share my opinion about something and this lead to even more problems. From my personal experience, I can say that one of the symptoms of fear of rejection is that people are afraid to speak their mind. Often they might be afraid to have a serious discussion with their spouse thinking that they might say something wrong and they will not be wanted anymore. Often when I was spending time with her, my stomach felt queasy. This is what happened to me and that is why I want to share my story so that other people will know what to do in such circumstances.

Let me tell you how I eventually overcame fear of rejection. I think that many people who struggle with fear of rejection eventually might reach a stage when they will be fully aware of their problem. Realizing that I even had this problem was already a milestone in my case. Because I realized that I had this problem I started thinking more and more how it is affecting my life. The truth is that I was not able to function as a normal person, because even though I loved my wife, whenever I was near her I was getting stressed as I was afraid what will happen.

Fear of rejection is a real problem that should not be ignored. Admitting that a person has such a problem is very important. Ignoring it can lead to serious complications in the future. I am just a typical man who is married to a woman he loves. We have a successful marriage, but there was one thing that was bothering me in the past. I finally overcame the problem, so let me tell you the story. Even though we enjoyed spending time together, there were times when I felt inadequate. This feeling made me afraid and I started to have fear of rejection. At first, I did not realize it at all. As a matter of fact, I am sure that there are many people who have fear of rejection, but are afraid to admit it. Because I had fear of rejection, I very often had problems clearly communicating with my wife and this made me even more afraid of losing her. Communicating in marriage is very important and I knew that I have to learn doing so. There are many people who struggle with it and I was one of them.
