Things To Consider Before Buying Your First RV
There are many factors to consider when purchasing an RV. You might be excited to get on the road but make sure you first look for an RV that suits all your travel needs.
Gas or Diesel
RVs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so they don’t all take the same kind of fuel. You might be inclined to get a gas engine if it’s what you are used to already. However, gas engines offer some limitations when it comes to RVs like needing to be replaced more often. Although diesel usually costs more than gas, a diesel engine is more fuel-efficient when it comes to RVs and has a longer engine life. You’ll be saving money in the long run and potentially increasing the value of your RV overall with a diesel engine.
Size and Comfort
RVs can host anywhere from two to over ten people. Large families might find themselves comfortable in a class A which is comparable to a tour bus size vehicle. These come with tons of luxurious amenities like king-size beds or washers and dryers. If you are feeling like that’s a bit large to manage and drive, you can take it a step down to class C RVs. Class C RVs will go up to around 30 feet in size but are typically less expensive and smaller than class A RVs. If you’re looking for even smaller you may want a more manageable class B RV that looks a lot more like a van. Vans and pop-up trailers can be a more cost-effective and easier option for smaller groups and couples.
Space and Storage
When you travel do you like to pack light or heavy? The available storage space in your RV will depend on the size of the RV you get. Some RVs can offer more amenities like kitchenettes instead of more storage space. In addition to fitting the people, clothes, and food, what about your other vacation toys and accessories? If you like to bring things like fishing poles, bikes, paddleboards, or kayaks to your destination, make sure you have the space to fit it all.
RVs come in a variety of sizes and offer many different features. Before making any large decision, make sure your travel style and particular needs are fully accommodated by your RV.
