What to include in your injury journal
If you have been injured in an accident you might want to start something called an injury journal. It can be either hand written or it can be stored somewhere on your computer. The bottom line is that it is something that can be very useful when making a personal injury claim and your Miami personal injury attorney will definitely find it very helpful. Here is what you should include in your personal injury journal:
1. A very detailed depiction of your accident. You might want to include anything important such as the weather on that day, time of day, other people present, who responded to the accident (such as police officers), various hazards present that might have contributed to your accident, etc. The more details you jot down the easier it will be for you to have a consistent story to present when you are already in court.
2. Next, you want to write down your medical information related to the case: the treatments you received, the doctors you visited, types of tests you had done, etc. Include a lot of information such as names and addresses as it will be easier for the court to contact them if they will feel like this is needed.
3. The amount of pain you have experienced since the accident. Since pain is usually subjective and every person feels pain differently, try to be as descriptive as possible. Use adjectives such as sharp, piercing, debilitating, etc to give the court an idea the amount of suffering you have been through.
4. Try to describe in a detailed way how your life has been affected by the accident. For example, you might feel socially isolated if you can participate in the activities you used to engage before the accident, or you might not be able to take care of your children the way you used to. Again, try to be as descriptive as possible.
